Commission members join events to mark Aung San Suu Kyi's birthday Members of the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission attended a series of events in London on 19 June, to mark the birthday of Burma's democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. The Chairman of the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission, Stephen Crabb MP, joined a cross-party group of MPs at a reception in the Jubilee Room, House of Commons. The Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague also attended the reception, which was hosted by John Bercow MP, a member of the Commission. Earlier in the day, the Commission's Deputy Chairman, human
rights activist Ben Rogers, spoke at a protest at the
Burmese Embassy, and joined demonstrators outside Downing
Street. |
